Here's what our friends have to say...

Hi Luca,

Sorry for the late reply. It's taken me a while to get back to the swing of things here.

The trip was fantastic. Lots of great memories for both my dad and I. I was very pleased with our communication back and forth prior to the trip as it help iron out a lot of details. It made for a very smooth trip (I guess minus the hotel change in the last day but that has nothing to do with you guys). I have nothing negative to say about my experience with Naturalis.

A few comments I guess for each section of the trip:

Maliau Basin:

- very eye opening and unique experience.

- our guide Augustine was excellent and I would highly recommend him for any future trips (very knowledgeable and a great chef!)

- would have loved to stay at the research centre on the last night (vs the agathis camp) but not a big deal at all

- overall a great experience

Island Hoping:

- was a very good relaxing day, especially after the Maliau Basin

- snorkeling was far superior on the first beach and in hindsight would have spent more time there instead of going to the second island

Mt. Kinabalu

- Glad we finished off with this activity since it was easier and more relaxing than Maliau Basin

- Great experience and fantastic views from the summit.

So overall it was a great trip and organized very well. The scheduling issue actually worked out in our favour since doing the Maliau Basin first was definitely the better course of action. All positive reviews for yourself and Naturalis for a great experience.

Thanks again!
Philip

Sandro.

Hi Hasma,

I would like to thank you very much for your very flexible approach to my travel requests. I was really pleasantly surprised that you could arrange two great tours (rafting on the Padas river and climbing the Mt Kinabalu) on such a short notice. Both tours were of high quality and were a great way to get to know Sabah/Borneo. Hope to be back soon to discover the other parts of the island!

Terima kasih, Robert, the Netherlands

Hi Rose/Michela,

I just wanted to send you an email to pass on my thanks for arranging our trip in Sabah last week. We had an amazing time at Sepilok, Sukau and Tabin, with the opportunity to see and experience a huge variety of wildlife. Our guides were fantastically knowledgeable in relation to the animals we saw and the habitats in which they live which made our experience all the more valuable. Everything ran on time which made everything very easy for us and we always felt very safe and comfortable, important given we were travelling with our six year old daughter.

I would be grateful if you can pass these comments to all who were involved in making our trip so memorable.

Many thanks,

Ashley

Hi Luca,

We're back in Hong Kong after our fantastic trip to Borneo and feeling a bit sad that it had to come to an end!

First of all we'd like to thank you for organising everything for us, every transfer went smoothly and there were no hiccups whatsoever. The accommodation at each location was excellent but Danum stands out as being the most spectacular, so much so that we couldn't resist upgrading to get a river view and the outside bath to cool off in after a long days trekking in the rain forest.

The drivers and guides we met during our stay were all knowledgable and made us feel very welcome although Basri was amazing as always, really understanding our requirements and going that extra mile to make our time on the Kinabatabgan extra special. It was great to meet up with Sabran and Anwar again and they also made our stay special.

We were pleased with the order we completed our journey in as the Kinabatangan offered welcome relief after the humidity and heat of the rain forest and was a slightly less hectic itinerary.

The highlight of the trip however was Danum Valley, staying in such a wonderful place in the middle of a 130 million year old primary rain forest was incredible and is something we're already talking about repeating in the near future.

We really were impressed at every lodge we stayed at and would recommend them to anyone. However, there are a few things we would change in retrospect:

1. Selecting a specialist guide in Danum to suit our needs as we often felt that the emphasis was on jungle trekking rather than on wildlife spotting and photography, there was too much emphasis for us on chasing the big primates and elephants at the expense of learning more about forest wildlife in general. We do appreciate however that we would require a specialist guide for our rather specific needs.

2. We would probably change our final destination to something a bit smaller and more intimate as we found the Rasa Ria to be a very large ex-pat hang out - although this may have been because of the Easter break holidays. But a boutique type hotel would be our choice for future visits.

It really has been an amazing experience and we are definitely going to be back in the near future. We have so many amazing memories from our trip and the photo count runs into the thousands! Also, many thanks for the video link for the Johnsons which we watched earlier this morning, amazing footage given the technology available then, and a great insight into Borneo from the early days.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Ciao Michela!

Dear Michela,

We are back home safe and full of wonderful memories of our trip. I would like to thank you for your efforts organizing this trip. I have to say it was very professional and all the sights were beautiful. We are sure to recommend this trip to our friends and family and would like to go back later as well.

It was only a minor disappointment at Pom Pom Island to see some of the Chinese tourists unawarely destroying coral and other wildlife at sea. It was a huge contrast to all our previous stops! The efforts of nature preservation at Turtle Island and eco-awareness of Borneo Rainforest Lodge compared to the ignorance of some of the Chinese guests at Pom Pom Island. I am a little worried, that if this continues coral and other wildlife, including turtles will disappear from the island soon. I hope there could be something done to avoid this, e.g. education, signs, guards, huge fines, etc…

However, I must admit the location is heavenly and accommodation, service, etc is flawless!

Dear Hasma,

I would like to say a big thank you for the unforgettable experience of climbing Mt Kinabalu and Low's Peak via ferrata with ABC Tours. My guide, Moidin Sompot was very experienced, made allowances for my lack of altitude fitness and took safer routes than were immediately obvious; I felt safe the whole time. I would recommend Moidin as a guide. He was great.
As for via ferrata, Ali was a great guy and very clear at giving instructions. We all felt safe here as well!
If there are any web pages where you would like me to provide a review, eg tripadvisor, then please just let me know and I'll write a great review to let the world know how great you all are! I have enclosed some pics of Moidin, Ali and one of me at the summit,
thanks,

Chris
